This 2023 Rolex Daytona Ref. 116508 pays tribute to the “Paul Newman” chronograph aesthetic, featuring a black dial with contrasting off-white or cream-toned chronograph subdials, applied gold Arabic-style step markers, and a tachymetric scale printed in a bold, retro-inspired font. Housed in an 18ct yellow gold case, this execution captures the vintage exotic-dial charm that made the original 1960s Paul Newman Daytonas legendary among collectors, while benefiting from every modern improvement Rolex has made to the caliber and case architecture since. The watch is fitted with a black Cerachrom monobloc chronograph bezel featuring a tachymetric scale, offering superior scratch resistance and fade-proof color compared to the acrylic and metal bezels used on vintage examples.
