Description
This 2023 Rolex Daytona Ref. 116508 pairs an 18ct yellow gold case with an exceptionally rare meteorite dial, each one cut from genuine extraterrestrial iron-nickel meteorite material and finished to reveal the natural Widmanstatten crystalline pattern unique to that individual slice. Because every meteorite dial is cut from a different section of the source material, no two dials are ever perfectly identical, making each watch a genuinely one-of-a-kind piece despite sharing the same reference number. The silvery-grey, etched surface of the dial contrasts dramatically against the warm tone of the yellow gold case, applied gold hour markers, and tri-compax chronograph subdial layout. Rolex sources its meteorite material from verified extraterrestrial sources and slices it into wafer-thin dial blanks, a labor-intensive process that limits production and contributes to the reference’s scarcity in the market. Powering the watch is the caliber 4130 automatic chronograph movement, featuring a column wheel, vertical clutch, and Parachrom hairspring for enhanced shock and magnetic resistance. This example has passed our full in-house inspection covering movement accuracy, case condition, and dial integrity. Meteorite dial Daytonas are among the most visually distinctive and sought-after executions Rolex produces, appealing strongly to collectors drawn to rare materials and one-of-a-kind dial patterns.
