Description: Rolex Air-King 116900

Pre-owned Rolex Air-King ref 116900 (2018) holds a special place in Rolex history as the first revamped edition of the watch once inspired by RAF pilots. Initially, the “Air Series” watch more closely resembled the Oyster Perpetual, featuring a similar 34mm Oyster case, time-only dial, and stainless steel finish. However, in 2016, Rolex completely reinvented the collection via the ref. 116900 for sale here. Keen-eyed collectors quickly pointed out the similarities between the sportier dial and the cockpit instruments developed by Rolex for the Bloodhound Super Sonic Car. The unique watch face swapped the traditional indices on the original Air King with luminescent Arabic hour markers, and the dressier stick hands were replaced by the Mercedes-style hands seen on most Rolex sports watches.
